Can the train accommodate wheelchair users?
Unfortunately due to the nature of the heritage carriages that we use we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users on the train. If a wheelchair user is able to transfer to the train and use the provided seats we would be happy to accommodate them and we would be happy to transfer their wheelchair from the boarding platform to the exit platform, however a wheelchair cannot be left on the train. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
Is the railway suitable for guests with disabilities?
Whilst we are a heritage railway we aim to try and accommodate those with disabilities as best as we can. All our platforms are surfaced to be easy to walk on. There is a downwards ramp to Horsehay & Dawley Platform where you will board THE POLAR EXPRESS™ when leaving the train, Spring village platforms are flat with a slight ramp on the end to the events marquee . We will also be using outdoor flooring on uneven areas but do be aware there are some areas where gravel or hardcore is used as paving but this is kept to a minimum. We also have on-site disabled toilets.
Are there disabled toilets available?
Yes, we have toilets available for our disabled guests. Should you wish to use the facilities please be sure to ask a member of staff who would be happy to guide you to them using the most efficient method. Show you where they are.
Are there baby changing facilities available?
Yes, we have changing facilities in the Disabled Toilets.
Is there any parking for guests with disabilities?
There is parking available for disabled guests closer to the railway however this is extremely limited. We therefore ask you to contact us here prior to the day of the event.
